| How to save money |
|
Set your goalsSet your priorities and goals. Saving money for a short-term goal is much easier than for long-term ones. But they depend on what your reasons are for saving the money. It is very important that before you buy something that you need, you set a time for window shopping or canvassing. Never buy on impulse. Through prior checking out, you will be able to compare rates and get the best deals. Determine how much down payment you need and if you can afford to pay it monthly on top of the monthly bills that you already have.
Make a budgetKeep a record on everything that you have spent on. It is very critical that you take a critical look at your expenses. Write down everything you spend your money on. Try it out for a couple of weeks or months to see if it is right for you. Be very specific and keen on small details. You will need to write everything down. Write this down on a small notebook that you should carry with you wherever you go and whatever you do. At the end of every month, transfer all your expenditures on a bigger notebook. Take a good look at all the expenses you have had during the past month and start trimming down on things that you know are unnecessary for your monthly needs. However, by cutting down on some expenses, you may need to make some difficult decisions.Reassess your expenses. Subtract the expenses, those that you can’t live without from your monthly income. Make sure that aside from the set aside amount for the bills, and for your daily consumption, the amount left should be for savings. Assess if you can live by it. And if you can, then you should start doing it.
