If you think that since you are a woman, you might have less chances of succeeding in the world of entrepreneurship than a man, then you might have been misled. You can grab of an equal opportunity if you just do it properly.
When you start a business, the first thing that you will have to think of is the start up capital. You might use the savings that you have from your years of being employed in a company. This you will have to talk with your husband of course. You might also look for other resources where you can get money.
Getting a good loan where interest is not so high is one. You just have to find the right lender for this. Another would be getting a partner who is better equipped financially than you are. If you have a brilliant business idea, sell it. You can convince someone to invest on it. Another idea would be is to slowly start the business. This means that you can still work in the company that you are working for and work for your business part time. At least, if the business fails, you still have your job. It would not be wise if you quit your job, use your lifetime savings and risk everything without knowing what to do or where to go if the business wont succeed. Most important thing to think of is that, you have something to fall back on financially if your business idea fails.
| Running a business takes a lot of time and especially effort. As a woman, you will have to know how to juggle all your responsibilities-because you do have a lot! Remember, you have a family to take care of. You need to spend time with your children. Good thing if they already go to school. At least you have 8 hours to yourself. But then again, you will still have to prepare their food in the morning and help them with their homework at night. Let us not forget you are a wife also and not just a mother. You also want to spend time with your husband. And what about that job you still hold in the company? Of course, you cannot be working for your business while you are in your work premises. When you are working for your boss in those hours, then you will have to give your time and attention to that. Juggling all these responsibilities together with your own business is not one easy task. As a woman entrepreneur, it will be a big challenge for you. You just have to make the right kind of sacrifices without neglecting any of your mentioned responsibilities. |

As a woman and an entrepreneur, time is your biggest sacrifice. Of course, as suggested previously, you could start working part time with your present job. In this way, you will have time for your business. Consequently, this means that you will have to work on your business part-time also. You just have to remember that although starting slow is the right way to do it, you have to make sure that you still give quality time on your business. Another thing that you will have to sacrifice is your “this-is-for-me-time” that you probably treated yourself with in the past. Since giving up quality time with your children and husband is not a very wise idea, then this is the way to do it.
Another sacrifice that you have to make is the financial sacrifice. Perhaps before having a business, you and your family were used to some luxury. When you have a business that you have just started, you might need all the financial resources that you have. This means you need to lessen your expenditures at home. This ranges from lessening eating out, scheduled shopping trips and other expenditures at home. This could also be delaying that family trip you wanted to have abroad or foregoing buying new furniture or appliances at home. You will have to talk this over with your husband of course.
You should ask yourself if what you can achieve with the business is worth sacrificing for. You should exactly know the reasons why you want to have your own business. If you just thought of it because you were jealous of your neighbor who suddenly earns big time with her home business selling jams, then you should take a step back and think again. If you have a brilliant idea that you have carefully thought and researched about and you have those entrepreneurial skills, then you are on the right track. The most important thing is to know why you have the business and what you want to achieve with it. This keeps you focused and strong to keep on going. In order to succeed in business as a woman, you have to be.
